Old Speckled Hen was first brewed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory. But why “Old Speckled Hen”? Well, the name is actually derived from the name “owld speckled ‘un”, a term to describe an old MG car used as a factory run-around. Overtime, this unusual, canvas covered saloon became covered with flecks of paint and was dubbed the “owld speckled ‘un” by locals. Old Speckled Hen is now the number one choice at the check-out for those who enjoy a rich, strong beer to drink at home. In the premium bottled beer sector, Old Speckled Hen even outsells Newcastle Brown Ale!
Old Speckled hen has a wonderful, warm flavour bursting with body. Malt loaf and toffee flavours combine with a bitterness on the back of the tongue to give a beautiful, balanced sweetness without being cloying. 330 ml bottle.
